In October 2017, Lincoln TeamMates launched an innovative new match support idea: community service projects. Not only is it a fun activity for a mentor and mentee to do together once a month, it’s an avenue for mentors to talk with their mentees about giving back to their community. Of course, project recipients benefit, too! Our first service project was making tissue paper flowers for the burn unit at St. Elizabeth Hospital, and around 20 matches participated. Since then, 53 projects have been organized and participation has grown to over 200 matches participating each month. In this session, you will learn how to partner with community organizations, secure funding, service project ideas, and how to keep this a sustainable resource in your chapter.
