Val was a special education teacher for 11 years in an urban school district. She received her bachelor's degree from UNI and her Master's degree from Drake University. Val has worked for the AEA system for over 15 years. Her first role in the AEA was Special Education Representative. Currently, she serves as a systems coach in the area of Social Emotional Behavioral Health (SEBH) She supports SEBH through PBIS, Social Emotional Learning, and Restorative Practices. In addition, Val is a certified childrens' and adults yoga instructor. She is passionate about empowering people to use everyday tools to connect with others and create loving, caring, compassionate communities.
